We sailed Century in 1995, in fact it was her last voyage (repositioning cruise from Miami to Barcelona) before her refurb in Sicily. [Blog]
We've chosen Century for two reasons; one, we loved it! And (2) she's bound for Oz in November 2011 and will remain here until March 2012. Ardent cruisers: this is a MUST SEE ship!
Celebrity Century is a stylish, contemporary mid-sized cruise ship. Once regarded as a large vessel (now dwarfed by her younger sister Celebrity ships), she is the smaller of the family however one of the most exciting & intimate vessels sailing today.
She has all the charms of worldly cruise ships but a nice balance of modern niceties including upmarket decor and state of the art technology. We found that Century had the right mix regardless of what anyone would expect on a cruise ship - the perfect all-rounder. And in our opinion, much more ideal than anything on offer here in Oz during the same season.

Overall appearance: Century was clean, bordering sterile. Public areas were surprisingly crisp & aired; deck areas were well maintained, as were staterooms.
Food & Beverage: Food is typically Celebrity Cruises fashion; fresh, and at most times HOT when delivered to the table. Menus were perfect with a good choice of dishes.
Beverages in both the dining room (& restaurants), and upon deck/in bars were 'a plenty... affordable and each purchase constituted a mandatory (grats) charge for waiter service, individually. That said, the pricing was reasonable.
Service: 2nd to none. That is, you'll rarely ever sit with an empty glass; waiters are keen to own you... in a very nice way and you'd rarely ever have to remind them your favourite drink.
Dining staff are excellent, their customer service is highly commendable. We're talking 5 Star here; waist suits/white gloves and all! Formal nights are a real treat for passengers.
Staterooms: Elegant probably sums it up. Plenty of room in most, sweetened each day with a thorough servicing. Decor is traditional however modern, the bees knees in staterooms for my liking.
Entertainment: this is always something on the move; cultured for audiences on various voyages.
Our cruise was halved - Americans & Europeans, so there were some aspects that didn't interest us so much. Having said that, what we did like was truly amazing and we're expecting Century will have something special for Aussie audiences.
Amenities: were reasonable. Remembering though, we sailed Trans Atlantic - with many sea days, so one is always on the look out for something to do on board. Happily, we were able to discover the ship - end to end and this really did make a difference; moreover, made us very fussy :)
Kids/Family cruising: We make the most out of cruising, the best we can. 'Kids were generally satisfied with onboard activities and the likes but always keen to be with mum & dad, to share our experiences. Generally speaking, Century is very much geared to kids & families but you have to be firm and decisive in planning your cruise holiday aboard so it suits all.
Value: Outstanding. For what you get - in the Aussie cruise holiday program, you probably won't find better value on a ship that even comes close to Century.
Celebrity Century has sailed most of the world's oceans & seas. From the Caribbean; the Med; the Baltics & Russia; Europe... and now downunder to Australia. I do know her crew are very excited to be coming and I'm sure they'll be keen to raise the bar in Aussie cruising especially that her larger and newer sister Solstice is coming.
